Their relationship began with one-sided animosity but has since blossomed into unwavering loyalty.

Weston College

Diedrich and Vincent both attended Weston College during the same year. Vincent was in Sapphire Owl House and Diedrich was in Green Lion House. Diedrich has already been prefect of Green House but it wasn't until senior year when Vincent became prefect of Blue House.

One afternoon, Vincent was leisurely reading on the lawn, having neglected preparations for the annual cricket tournament. Aggravated, Diedrich confronted him. Vincent responded with a snide remark that “everything German is rather tough to handle,” further stoking Diedrich’s irritation. In a burst of anger, Diedrich swung his cricket bat, narrowly missing Vincent and striking his book instead. He complained that he had been left to manage all the preparations alone and claimed that if the leader represented the whole, then the rest of Blue House must be equally intolerable.

Provoked, Vincent proposed a bet: whichever house won the tournament would be granted a single, unconditional demand from the loser.

Against all expectations, Vincent went on to lead Sapphire Owl to its sole victory in the annual cricket tournament, a feat later known as the “Miracle of Sapphires.” Afterward, at the Swan Gazebo, Diedrich acknowledged his defeat and affirmed that he would honor their agreement. Vincent's demand was for Diedrich to be his drudge. Diedrich was shocked, given that they were in different houses and that he was a prefect himself.

Vincent stated that Diedrich must keep his promise regardless and that whenever he is to call him, Diedrich must come without question, just like a faithful German dog. He added that the winning demand didn't have an expiration date, therefore solidifying their lifelong partnership.

Aristocrats of Evil

The headquarters of the Aristocrats of Evil is Phantomhive Manor. Select allys of the Phantomhives meet with the current head of the Phantomhive household to assist him, as the Queen’s Watchdog, in eliminating sources of the Queen’s distress and ridding the underworld of illegal activities.

Since Diedrich is Vincent's closest confidant, Vincent entrusts him with the protection of his family if anything were to happen to him.
